10 days to temperatures of 32 degrees C in the day and 20+ at night

What a change that will be from the UK 😊 Good meeting at lunchtime today where we worked on the teaching we will be doing … some nerves amongst the students about teaching which isn’t surprising but we know they will be great, once they have gained some confidence.

I confirmed today that students can have two bags for the hold, total weight of 30kg … as well as hand luggage … I am asking that students try hard to keep 5-10 kg of space in their bags as we have lots of gifts to take with us.

Today’s photo is from 2017: some of the students volunteers in the central square in Dodoma with the statue of the ‘father of the nation’ President Julius Nyerere. Baba Nyerere died in 1999 at the age of 77 but is much revered by Tanzanians as he led the nation to independence from the British in 1961. I took a similar photo in 2015 and the backdrop changed massively from 2015 to 2017 with more modern buildings and I am looking forward to seeing how the city that had a population of about 250,000 when I first visited in 2012, and had grown to over 600,000 by 2017, has developed to take on the persona of a capital city.
